“Thanks for your help in arranging what has to be one of our best trips yet. I was initially a bit daunted by the thought of travelling in Nigeria but your expert advice and knowledge gave me the confidence to go. And I’m so glad I did – what a country! Lagos was one of the busiest cities I’ve ever been to and fascinating for the sheer ability of its inhabitants to manage life under some testing conditions. The contrast with places like Genu and Idanre was striking – meeting the Kamberi people was a real highlight, just as you said it would be, and we were lucky enough to be there on a market day. I’m now looking at where to travel next, and will no doubt be in touch soon.”

“I’ve wanted to visit Albania for ages – that strange fascination with the forbidden I think. Ndrec and Alma were the perfect guides and obviously have a deep love for their country, going out of their way to make sure that we didn’t miss anything and saw as much as possible. Hotels were much better than expected and despite the general lack of decent infrastructure here, everything worked perfectly.”

“Just returned from Georgia and wanted to send you a quick note to let you know how it all went. In a word, amazing! Svaneti and Tusheti were incredible, just like you said, and it felt like another world, or another time, here. The hosts at the homestays plied us with excellent food and great Georgian wine, and even though they spoke little English we had a great time in their company (although I think I may have gained a few pounds in the process!). Nina brought the complex history of Georgia to life and gave us a great understanding of it without it feeling like a lecture, which can often be the case, and the contacts that she had with local people meant that we felt we’d seen a bit more of Georgian culture than we would have otherwise. From start to finish this was a great trip, and your advice before we went was invaluable.”

“Somaliland was great and the fact that you managed to put this trip together at such short notice, pretty impressive. Thanks for helping with my numerous questions – your personal experience of this rather challenging country made a real difference. My friends and family all thought I was mad for going, but at no point did I feel unsafe. Khalid was an excellent guide and able to deal with all of the little niggles that often accompany this sort of trip, and Mohammed was a super helpful driver, always on time and always happy to stop for photos (which I must admit were many and frequent). Las Geel did not disappoint – unbelievable that this only really became known within the last fifteen years or so, and the quality of the rock art here rivals any I’ve seen before.”

“Sue and I just wanted to drop you a line more or less as soon as we arrived home, (after a few hours sleep!) to let you know how we got on as we are aware that our itinerary was not one of your standard ones.

In one word, FANTASTIC! I am happy to let you know more in detail if you would like; without exception our guides, drivers and various staff were polite, knowledgable and extremely helpful. The accommodations were delightful; I always try to evaluate hotels etc on the basis of where in the world they are, taking into account infrastructure, finances etc. I think we had the best there was. All our accommodation staff were so helpful and courteous. We always knew that the travelling to and from Mt. Bromo was going to be quite a challenge in the short space of time that we gave you to fit it in but everything worked brilliantly and we both agree it was well worth the trip.

The few days on board the Plataran Phinisi Komodo were truly wonderful. To have a crew of five and our guide looking after us made us feel very spoiled indeed.

We would both recommend this itinerary for anyone wishing to seek out the wild life and incredible landscapes of Indonesia. As a wild life photographer,to see a big male Orang-Utan completely in the wild, was one of the highlights of the trip for me, (granted, he couldn’t be arranged for every trip!) But equally, there were so many other special moments. Every flight, long drive and bumpy road pale into insignificance at the sight of buildings such as Borobodur or the pall of sulphurous clouds rising from Mt. Sinabung seen from our breakfast table!”
